It’s personal

Besides Lizann’s connection to the military community as a former military spouse. The whole team cares about the military community. GoVA’s founder Phil Jawny is not a veteran, but has two decades of experience as mortgage lender and a broker and saw military families facing challenges when working to get a home through a VA loan. He founded GoVA to address some of the issues he was seeing around VA home loans. But as he dove into what military families needed for VA loans he came to realize there was a broad need for financial tools within the military community. Not just focused around VA loans. He started hiring veterans to grow the company and has also hired military spouses.

Lizann shared about her personal experience of being married to someone who was enlisted. She left a job paying more to follow his career and has worked at different ways to help support not only her husband’s career but financially contribute. But also struggled with unemployment and living overseas at a place where she couldn’t work. It made for some financially challenging situations and required them to learn all they could about finances not only for the present but planning for their families future.

Finances don’t have to be scary

So many people do not have the financial tools they need. And since they don’t teach financially readiness in school most people only learn from their parents example which can be good or bad. Learning about finances is so important but there are not enough resources focus on education and making smart choices. And GoVA knows this and that is why education and learning about financial tools is so important to them.

When utilizing the Edge they want you to know you are not alone. Even if you feel like you are struggling there are others who have gone through the same situation and there are tools to help you get on the path to financial wellness.
