Vanessa shares her story of working at the Department of Veteran Affairs in her new book Veteran Affairs Whistleblower Retaliation. She initially joined the Air Force but when that didn’t work out she joined the Army a few years later. She wanted to work in the nursing field but it wasn’t open so her recruiter recommended that she work in preventative medicine. It wasn’t anything like she expected and didn’t set up her future career like she had hoped. Today, she is a social worker and just released her newest book, Veterans Affairs Whistleblower Retaliation. Vanessa is dedicated to supporting and assisting individuals from all backgrounds, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met.
Veteran Affairs Whistleblower Retaliation
Vanessa served in the Army for four years, but she knew it wasn’t the right place for her. She considered staying but having met and married her husband who was still serving saw the opportunity for them to continue to serve together unlikely. At the end of her commitment she left the military and shifted into the role of military spouse. She also went back to school to finish her degree in to become a social worker.
Working at the VA
Her first job after graduating was at the VA in New Mexico. She shares her story of that experience in her book, Veterans Affairs Whistleblower Retaliation. The story in the book seems unbelievable and she said some people won’t believe the story is true. So she included the files that are documented proof of what happened to her. She has written other books, but this one is the most important to her and tells her story.
