USA Girl Scouts Overseas

Thank you to USA Girl Scouts Overseas for sponsoring the Women of the Military podcast!

Did you know that you can still be a Girl Scout even when you’re living overseas? USA Girl Scouts Overseas serves Girl Scouts wherever they are. Moving overseas can be difficult for girls as their families move to a new place and work to get in sync with a new culture. USA Girl Scouts Overseas offers constant and consistent programming; allowing girls to pick up right where they left off. Making sure they continue to benefit from the single best leadership development experience for girls in the world.

USA Girl Scouts Overseas is available to girls in military families, foreign service families, and American ex-pat families along with girls at international schools in every corner of the globe. Because USA Girl Scouts Overseas operates as part of Girls Scouts of the USA, they provide a sense of security and stability as families transition to new locations.

Why should you consider having your girl become a part of USA Girl Scouts Overseas?

It is easy to see the benefits. If you look at current female leaders, you will see many of these leaders were Girl Scouts. Did you know that fifty percent of female business leaders, seventy-two percent of female US Senators, and 100% of female US Secretaries of State were Girl Scouts? The benefits of being involved in Girl Scouts grow as they grow and begin their future careers.

Some of the skills that Girl Scouts teaches are:

developing a strong sense of self, displaying positive values, seeking challenges while learning from setbacks, forming and maintaining healthy relationships, and identifying and solving problems within the community. Also, through USA Girl Scout Overseas’ Virtual Troop program – a troop which exists exclusively online – your girl can learn these valuable skills from anywhere! The program is built on four main platforms: STEM (Computer science, engineering, robotics, and more), Outdoors, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship.

Too old to be a Girl Scout? No Way! USA Girl Scout Overseas is always looking for volunteers. It is a great way to connect with your new community and make a meaningful difference in the lives of girls. Volunteering can range from leading a Girl Scout troop to helping with cookie sales, events, and more. Volunteer commitments can range from seconds, minutes or hours each week.
