Taylor was about to graduate from college and did not want to continue going to school and the career field she picked required more school or experience that she didn’t have. So she started the process of joining the military. It took her time to lose the weight to meet the height and weight standards. She ended up losing over twenty pounds before she could join the Air Force. She was able to do it though watching what she ate along with various exercises that helped rise her heart rate but didn’t gain muscle mass.
She went to Basic Training during the pandemic. She talked about wearing masks all the time. And even though a lot of the graduation traditions didn’t happen like being tapped out. She was glad that she graduated. She started in one career field but ended up transferring to a new career field. She has enjoyed being in the Air Force and is planning to make the Air Force a full career. But she is also preparing for retirement. She has started contributing to her Thrift Saving Plan (TSP) and when she hits two years of service the Air Force will start matching her donations up to five percent. They currently are contributing 1% of her base pay on top of her contributions.
