We got a chance to go to the unveiling of the new section of the Legoland Star Wars of Miniland at LegoLand California. When I heard about the opportunity, I saw Star Wars and Legos and knew we had to go. So, I asked my husband if he could get off work early and when he said yes I was so excited about being able to go to the event.
The event started after the park closed, but to ensure we were on time and to beat rush hour traffic, since we live in LA, we got there about 30 minutes early. Since we had free time we decided to check out the Legoland hotel.
My sons excitement for ever thing Lego was a great experience.
Have you ever been to a theme park with your kids?
Isn’t it amazing to see the excitement they have for even the most simple things. As you drive in and see the first glimpse of the park or the welcome sign your kids go crazy. Then when you park they just want to get out and see. They are so excited. It makes you get excited too. And that 30 minutes you got to the park before you could go in goes by so quickly as you run around the entrance looking at anything and everything. There is a lot of screaming and maybe even some jumping up and down. That is pretty much what happened to us. 🙂
When it was time to go into the park, we slowly made our way back to the MiniLand area. Even though all the rides were closed there is still so much stuff to see. The boys loved looking at all the different Lego statues and had fun climbing a small rock wall we found. We are looking forward to when we go back and will get to spend a full day exploring the park.
Star Wars Event
When we arrived at the check in we were issued wristband and the boys were given light sabers. Then pictures with Darth Vadar and various other statues.
There were goodies for us to eat and a band playing what else? Star Wars music. My oldest made friends with one of the other boys his age and ran back and forth. My little guy had fun walking and holding his light saber. Occasionally he would walk right in the middle of an epic light saber battle and one of the older kids would stop to protect him.
Finally it was time for the unveiling. There were clips from Star Wars the Force Awakens, a Jedi, R2 D2 and more to start up the event. The coolest part of the new exhibit was a 17′ star destroyer. The detail for the new display and older ones was amazing.
Legoland Military Discounts
I’m so grateful we were able to attend the event. I also can’t wait to go back. Legoland has had military discounts for awhile, but this year it is an even greater value. Three days and all the parks for only $75. A great deal for military families.
We are waiting for our oldest to grow a few more inches since he is so close to the 40″ mark. Before we attend this event my husband and I were a little worried there wouldn’t be anything to do for our youngest, but now after going we realize there is more to do than rides. There is so much to see and do for kids of all ages.
I can’t wait to go back.
*I was not paid to attend the free event at Legoland California. In exchange for attending the event my family received free tickets to visit the park on a future date. No blog post was required. All opinions are my own, please read my full disclosure statement here.
