Glen Ivy Hot Springs…I mean a day at Newport
We had been planning for months.
We were so excited.
We were in the final countdown, less than 24 hours to go
And then…one person got a call, then another, then other appointments were being canceled left and right and the spa might end up being closed
Others who did not receive calls tried calling with no luck of getting through…
It seemed like our mom break, girls weekend and awesome time planned was going to fall apart in a matter of a few short hours.
We use a messaging app to keep in touch for prayer request, encouragement, planning play dates and more. Sometimes it lights up with hundreds of messages in a few short minutes. Friday afternoon was one such occasion.
Somehow through messages back and forth a few extra text messages and phone calls we were able to come up with a plan. Luckily we live in LA and the options of places to go within an hour are endless. We ended up picking Newport Beach as our new destination.
Our day began with breakfast at a cute little café walking distance from the hotel. We ate and began the girl talk that would continue through out the day and late into the night. After breakfast we window shopped and then headed to the hotel. After reserving a spot at the pool we headed up to our room to change, lather on sunscreen and prepare to lie in the sun for an afternoon.
After an afternoon poolside we headed to an amazing Mexican restaurant for dinner. A few girls who couldn’t make the morning activities met up with us there. By the end of the day we had 12 ladies and every one of us had a smile on our face.
We got to recharge our batteries, grow a little closer and have some fun. And the fact that we had to alter our plans within hours of the first group of girls leaving is truly a miracle it all happened.
This is my third military base and I already know it will be so hard to leave. Each time you make friends at each place, but at my first two bases my close friends also were military families and they had either left or were leaving soon after it was time for us to go. But here in LA it is different, most of my friends so far are here to stay.
Enjoying every moment because I know that days will fly by so quickly and it will soon be time to leave, but these memories will be the treasures I take with me.
Until the next hike, stroll or run on the beach, bible study, play date, and girls weekend! I am so blessed.
