Disneyland is full of magic throughout the year, but at Christmas time the park is decorated with holiday decor and a few of the rides are given a Christmas makeover. The first thing you will likely notice when you enter the park is a giant Christmas tree at the beginning of Main Street. If you are lucky you may even run into a character dressed up in holiday attire or see the Disneyland marching band or Dapper Dans perform a rendition of Holiday classics. The magic of the park is hidden throughout the park and here are some of my favorite changes the imagineers make for the Holidays.
The haunted mansion is taken over by the Jack and the rest of the Nightmare Before Christmas crew. The mansion is totally transformed to the magic of Christmas with the help of Jack or I mean, Sandy Claus. The makeover of this ride makes for a fun adventure, while still holding the nostalgia of the original ride.
It a Small World is decorated inside and out. The lights covering the outside of the ride and the clock decorations are just part of the fun. The inside has been transformed as you celebrate Christmas all over the world. The music from the classic small world is mixed in with traditional holiday songs ranging from Feliz Navidad to Mele Kalikimaka.
The other popular ride that goes through a transformation during the Christmas season is the Jungle Cruise, I mean Jingle Cruise. The shipment of holiday decorations didn’t quite make it to the storage house so the decorations in line are creative and sparse, but as you take a journey through the Amazon your crew will discover the mystery of the missing decorations along with some corny jokes.
If you ever get a chance to make it to Disneyland during the holidays I highly recommend the trip. The magic of Disney is everywhere and the Christmas season brings it to full force, with new fireworks displays, parades and hidden magic around every corner.
